About
I work as a professional website designer and developer. I’ve been building websites of all sizes and shapes for the last 10 years or so. I’m self taught and so have had to learn much of what I know the hard way. As I work mainly with small businesses I’ve come across a lot of people who don’t really have much of a clue about what web sites are or how to make good use of them.
In this blog I’m going to try to pass on some of the things I’ve learned. My approach to websites is very much from a practical point of view. I believe that websites are tools and not toys and so you won’t find me waxing lyrical about the latest gismo you can cram on to your front page. Instead you will get tried and tested information that will make your website shine in the firmament known as the Internet.
This blog is also for those who want to build their own website. We will explore what it takes to make a website for yourself and hopefully over time will be able to cover every aspect.
I will avoid jargon as much as possible but feel free to ask questions on the blog if I say anything you don’t understand.
Many people who build their own site do so out of necessity rather than desire and so I’ll do my best to help make the process as painless as possible.
Of course if you intend to get someone else to build your site you should also find some helpful information about what goes in to building a web site. If your web designer is baffling you with what they are saying then hopefully you will get some answers in these blogs.
Thanks for visiting and if you know anyone else who might benefit from this blog please feel free to pass the details on.
